The three-disc album contains the first recording of complete organ works by Jehan Alain in the history of Polish recording industry, made by Warsaw organist and teacher Jarosław Wróblewski. It is an at-tempt at an original discourse with the existing performance tradition as well asa reference to the new edition of the composer’s works consisting in, e.g. taking into account some optional versions of the musical text as well as Alain’s various registration and performance dispositions. The sound engi-neer responsible for the recording is Andrzej Brzoska; the material was recorded in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tarnów on a Zych organ, the disposition of which refers to the French sym-phonic organ.‘Jehan Alain would look for artistic expression not only in music, but also in drawing and poetry. His works often reveal extra-musical ideas:philosophical or literary. In addition to the influences of a po-etic nature, we can also observe those originating from Gregorian chant, early music, impressionism, jazz or non-European rhythm and tonality. His innovative approach to the organ moves away from the symphonic perception of this instrument; he turns towards a sound ideal, i.e. an innovative synthesis of French Classicism and Romanticism immersed in sensualism. Alain implements it perfectly’ (Jarosław Wróblewski).
